a New Year's baby in 1949, born in Spartanburg,
South Carolina to Myrtle and Paul Stiles.
I grew up loving to play outside with my younger
brother, Phillip. We were both in Boy Scouts
and eventually became Eagle Scouts. We lived
for hunting, fishing, and playing in the woods.
attended the University of Georgia and played
football as a left offensive tackle. After
graduating I spent one pre season playing
professional football with the Jacksonville
Sharks of the World Football League.
done a variety of jobs including working
on oil rigs on the north slope of Alaska,
building water towers, installing golf course
watering systems, welding, and teaching
shop, later called technology. I'm now retired
and spend much of my time either fishing
or making fishing lures that I sell to friends.
have 3 daughters living in Georgia, April,
Beth, and Julie. My mother lives in Winterville,
Georgia, just outside Athens.
and I met in 1996 in Georgia and were married
within 4 months. We lived in Statesboro
for 3 years before moving to Little Rock,
Arkansas. I was teaching middle school technology
at the time. My passion is competitive bass
