was a New Year's baby in 1949, born in Spartanburg, South Carolina to Myrtle and Paul Stiles. I grew up loving to play outside with my younger brother, Phillip. We were both in Boy Scouts and eventually became Eagle Scouts. We lived for hunting, fishing, and playing in the woods.

I attended the University of Georgia and played football as a left offensive tackle. After graduating I spent one pre season playing professional football with the Jacksonville Sharks of the World Football League.

I've done a variety of jobs including working on oil rigs on the north slope of Alaska, building water towers, installing golf course watering systems, welding, and teaching shop, later called technology. I'm now retired and spend much of my time either fishing or making fishing lures that I sell to friends.

I have 3 daughters living in Georgia, April, Beth, and Julie. My mother lives in Winterville, Georgia, just outside Athens.

Anne and I met in 1996 in Georgia and were married within 4 months. We lived in Statesboro for 3 years before moving to Little Rock, Arkansas. I was teaching middle school technology at the time. My passion is competitive bass fishing. I've been doing it since 1969 when it was not popular. I've won about five boats.
